Thailand Events Calendar 2026–2028: Confirmed Dates by City — A Thailand DMC Guide for Travel Agents

Dispatch No. 150

July 5, 2026 · David Leo · Explera Trade Desk · 12 min read

What's on in Thailand between now and 2028 — and what can agents actually sell today? Here is the verified forward calendar, city by city. The confirmed headliners: Tomorrowland Thailand debuts 11–13 December 2026 in Chonburi (with a multi-year deal securing future editions), Wonderfruit runs 3–7 December 2026 in Pattaya, Bangkok hosts the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings (12–18 October 2026) and the Bangkok Art Biennale (29 October 2026 – 28 February 2027), MotoGP Buriram is contracted through 2031, and the eternal anchors — Songkran every 13–15 April and Loy Krathong on each November full moon — are bookable years out. This guide from a Thailand DMC for travel agents separates CONFIRMED from EXPECTED right through 2028, so you can block space early without overpromising. Pair it with our destinations hub.

Explera is a TAT-licensed Thailand DMC trusted by 340+ agency partners, with in-house transport, licensed guides, 24/7 support and IATA accreditation (96215733) — event hotels, transfers and programs blocked before the compression hits.

The fixed anchors — safe to sell for any year

Songkran (13–15 April 2027 and 2028, nationwide water festival), Chinese New Year (6 February 2027; 26 January 2028 — Yaowarat in Bangkok and Phuket Old Town shine brightest), Loy Krathong (24–25 November 2026; 14 November 2027; expected 1–2 November 2028) and Buddhist Lent's Khao Phansa season each July. These are the spine of any multi-year Thailand pitch.

Bangkok

October 2026 is a squeeze: the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings (12–18 October, QSNCC) will compress city hotels days before the Bangkok Art Biennale "Angels and Mara" opens across Wat Arun, Wat Pho, BACC and One Bangkok (29 October 2026 – 28 February 2027). December brings the Awakening light festival and the Amazing Thailand Countdown at ICONSIAM each New Year's Eve. Bangkok Design Week returns each late January–early February. And the big pending story: Thailand's cabinet has approved a bid for a Formula 1 Bangkok street race from 2028 — but it is NOT yet on the F1 calendar; monitor, don't sell. Build the city file with our Bangkok guide.

Chonburi & Pattaya — December is the new peak

Tomorrowland Thailand, 11–13 December 2026 at Wisdom Valley, Khao Mai Kaew: six stages, around 50,000 guests a day, no on-site camping — meaning hotel packages and shuttles are the product, and Pattaya inventory will vanish. Wonderfruit (3–7 December 2026, The Fields at Siam Country Club) stacks the same fortnight. Future Tomorrowland editions are secured under a five-year agreement — expect December 2027 dates. Pattaya Music Festival fills March weekends each year. Nearby, Rayong hosts the Thailand Biennale 2027.

Chiang Mai & the North

Yi Peng — the lantern release that sells itself — aligns with Loy Krathong: 24–25 November 2026, around 13–14 November 2027, and early November 2028 (book six months out; see our Chiang Mai guide). The Chiang Mai Flower Festival marks its 50th edition in February 2027, and Sukhothai Historical Park stages Thailand's most cinematic Loy Krathong week.

Phuket & the South

The Phuket Vegetarian Festival runs 10–18 October 2026 (then late September–early October 2027, mid-late October 2028 by the lunar count). Phuket also hosts the InterPride World Conference (28 October – 1 November 2026) and the Global Wellness Summit (10–13 November 2026) — two strong MICE-adjacent hooks. On Koh Phangan, Full Moon Party dates are published through 2026 (31 July, 28 August, 26 September, 27 October, 24 November, 24 December, plus New Year's Eve) and continue monthly forever.

Isan & beyond

MotoGP at Buriram's Chang International Circuit is contracted through 2031 — expect the traditional season-opening slot in late February/early March 2027 and 2028. The Ubon Candle Festival parades 29–30 July 2026, then mid-July 2027 and early July 2028 with the Buddhist calendar. Hua Hin's jazz formats recur each year between May and December.

How to sell 2027–2028 honestly — your Thailand DMC for travel agents

The rule: state as fact only what is confirmed — Songkran, Chinese New Year, royal holidays, MotoGP-by-contract — and sell everything else as "expected, dates to be announced," with flexible blocks. Our Thailand DMC services for travel agents hold event-window hotel space, run festival transfers, and our MICE team builds incentive programs around anchor events — tuned to the markets you sell in.

Selling notes for the trade

  • Block early December 2026 Pattaya/Chonburi NOW — Tomorrowland + Wonderfruit in one fortnight will empty the coast.
  • Route around Bangkok's October 2026 squeeze (IMF week) or use riverside properties.
  • Yi Peng needs six-month lead times — lantern-release tickets and Nimman hotels cap out first.
  • 2028 honesty rule: only fixed festivals and contracted events are quotable; F1 Bangkok remains pending — never sell it as confirmed.
  • Festival + beach = the winning shape: anchor the event, then decompress on an island leg.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tomorrowland Thailand confirmed?

Yes — 11–13 December 2026 at Wisdom Valley, Khao Mai Kaew, Chonburi, with hotel packages (no camping) and a multi-year deal securing future editions; December 2027 dates are expected but not yet announced.

When is Loy Krathong in 2026, 2027 and 2028?

24–25 November 2026, 14 November 2027, and (by the lunar calculation, not yet official) around 1–2 November 2028 — with Chiang Mai's Yi Peng lantern festival on the same full moons.

Will Formula 1 race in Bangkok in 2028?

Not confirmed. Thailand's cabinet approved a bid for 2028–2032 on a proposed street circuit, but FIA/F1 sign-off is outstanding — treat it as pending and don't promise it to clients.

Which 2028 events can agents already quote safely?

Songkran (13–15 April), Chinese New Year (26 January), royal-holiday fixtures, monthly Full Moon Parties and MotoGP Buriram (contracted through 2031); everything else should be sold as expected with flexible terms.
