The marinas — where charters begin

The regatta calendar — demand peaks to plan around
The Phuket King's Cup Regatta — Asia's premier regatta, under royal patronage since 1987 — runs in early December (28 November–6 December 2026), drawing 150-plus yachts and filling Kata's hotels. The Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous and the Thailand International Boat Show cluster around the same Andaman high season, and Ocean Marina Pattaya anchors the Gulf's events. Why Thailand now — the 2025 reform
Thailand's 2025 superyacht rules lowered the commercial-charter threshold from 30 to 24 metres and removed VAT on a vessel's capital value (tax now applies only to charter income). Foreign-flagged yachts of 24m-plus can charter Thai waters for up to twelve passengers on a one-year licence, applied for through an authorised industry-association agent.
