Two international congresses land in Phuket inside the six weeks that open high season 2026/27, and the first of them is the reason a Phuket room block contracted today can be a week out. The InterPride General Meeting and World Conference brings delegates from more than 400 member organisations to the island in late October; the Global Wellness Summit follows on 10–13 November 2026 under the theme “The Symphony of Wellness”. Around them sit the Phuket Vegetarian Festival and the day the winter flight schedule switches over. This guide from a Thailand DMC for travel agents sets out what lands when, what is confirmed, what is not, and which of it to reconfirm before you contract anything.
What actually lands in Phuket, and when
Four things change the shape of the island between the start of October and the middle of November, and only two of them are events.
1 October — Thai AirAsia is back at Suvarnabhumi. Three domestic routes resume from Bangkok’s main international airport rather than Don Mueang, Phuket among them at five flights a day. For an agent this is a connection story, not a capacity one: a client arriving long-haul into Suvarnabhumi can now be put onto a Phuket sector without the cross-city transfer to Don Mueang that has made those itineraries fragile.
10–18 October — the Phuket Vegetarian Festival. Nine days of street processions, closed roads and a town that empties of ordinary restaurant capacity. It is the single most disruptive week in Phuket Town’s year and it has nothing to do with the congresses, but it sits immediately before them.
25 October — the winter schedule begins. The northern-hemisphere winter season runs to 27 March 2027, and the long-haul frequencies that make Phuket sellable at scale step up on that date rather than gradually.
Late October — InterPride. The General Meeting and World Conference is a working congress of the global Pride movement: delegates from more than 400 member organisations, voting business, and a host-city decision riding on it. The exact dates are the problem, and they get their own section.
10–13 November — the Global Wellness Summit. Thailand won the hosting rights for the 2026 edition and it runs in Phuket under the theme “The Symphony of Wellness”. This is a senior, high-spend delegate profile — the kind who extend, bring a partner and book a villa rather than a twin.
Worth knowing so you do not chase it: Phuket was billed as hosting three global conferences in 2026, and the third has already happened. The Global Sustainable Tourism Conference ran on the island in April. Two are ahead, not three.
The window that is not settled
Here is the part that matters commercially, and it is uncomfortable. The InterPride conference window is reported three different ways. One account gives 26–31 October 2026. Another gives 29 October – 1 November. A third — our own events calendar until this week — gave 28 October – 1 November. Those are not variants of the same thing: the earliest start and the latest finish are six days apart, and a four-night block placed on the wrong one misses the delegates entirely or sits empty for half its length.
We cannot reconcile them from any source we can reach, so we are not going to pick the most convenient one and present it as settled. What is agreed across every account is that the conference is in Phuket and that it falls inside 26 October to 1 November 2026. What is disputed is where inside that span it starts and ends. Treat the whole span as the footprint, reconfirm the exact dates with the organiser or with our trade desk before you contract, and do not publish a conference-week package with fixed dates on the strength of a press summary. That is the honest position, and it is also the one that does not cost you a cancellation fee.
The Global Wellness Summit does not have this problem. Its dates are reported consistently, and 10–13 November is safe to plan against.
What it does to a Phuket file in the same weeks
A congress does not fill an island, but it does distort it in three specific ways that a leisure file feels.
Room type, not room count. Delegates take singles and doubles in four- and five-star town and beachfront properties with meeting space. That is the same stock your FIT couples want, and it goes first. Family rooms, villas and resort stock away from the conference cluster are far less affected — which is a packaging instruction, not just a warning.
Ground transport in bursts. Congress days move several hundred people at the same hours. Airport transfers and half-day excursions booked into those windows lose time they would not lose in an ordinary week. Extension demand after the close. Both congresses end on a Friday or a Sunday and both attract delegates who have flown a long way. The three nights after a summit closes are a genuine selling window for island-hopping, Phang Nga Bay and Khao Lak, and they are the easiest incremental nights you will sell in November.

The WorldPride 2030 vote rides on that week
The reason the InterPride meeting carries more weight this year than usual is that the next stage of the WorldPride 2030 host-city process runs at it. Bangkok is one of three finalists, alongside Barcelona and London. Thailand’s convention bureau is driving the bid and projects an event drawing more than a million visitors.
Be careful with how you use that. Nothing about 2030 is bookable, and the announcement date is itself disputed: one account puts the result in January 2027, another in January 2028. Sell it as momentum and as a reason a client’s 2027 Thailand programme is worth planning now — never as a fixture in a client document, and never with a date attached.
How to package it — your Thailand DMC for travel agents
Three moves, in order of how much they are worth.
Move the leisure file off the congress room type, not off the dates. If your client wants late October in Phuket, keep the dates and change the property profile: resort and villa stock away from the meeting cluster, which is where availability actually is. Build the post-congress extension before the congress sells out. Delegate extensions are contracted late and paid well. Put the reconfirmation in writing to your client. Where a date is genuinely unsettled, saying so early is a selling point and saying nothing is a liability. Tell the client the congress window is being confirmed and give them a date by which you will confirm it. No. The festival runs 10–18 October 2026 and the first congress week is at the end of the month. They are separate pressures on the same island in the same season, which is why the sequence matters more than any one date.
