Anantara Siam Bangkok has finished a US$50 million renovation that covered all 335 rooms, suites and villas, its Grand Ballroom and meeting rooms, its spa and its fitness facilities, according to reports published in September 2026. The hotel on Ratchadamri Road, which opened in 1983, has added pool suites and villas and kept the hand-painted lobby it is known for. This briefing, from a Thailand DMC for travel agents, looks at what changed and how to use the hotel for luxury and event files.

What changed
Every guest room was redesigned and the bathrooms were rebuilt. New categories include Anantara Garden Pool Suites and Villas with private pools in the gardens, and a two-bedroom Jim Thompson Explorer Suite created with the Thai silk house. The Grand Ballroom and the meeting rooms were refitted with new conference technology, the spa was overhauled, and the Siam Sports Club now has a gym, a Pilates studio, a Muay Thai ring and a climbing wall. The hotel kept the 100-metre lobby mural painted by Paiboon Suwannakudt and the 19 ceiling panels that depict "Heavens in Thai Thought".

Why it matters for events
Central Bangkok has few hotels that combine a ballroom, gardens and a full set of restaurants within walking distance of the main shopping malls, and this one now has new rooms and new meeting technology. Its nine restaurants and bars include Spice Market for Thai food, Biscotti, Shintaro and Aqua Bar, which gives a group several dinners without leaving the hotel. The published reports do not give new ballroom capacities or room counts by category, so request the current fact sheet and floor plans before you quote, and check the dates of any remaining works. Other new options in the city, such as the Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit, are worth comparing for the same brief.
Who to sell it to
The pool villas suit couples and honeymooners who want a city stop with resort space. The Explorer Suite suits small families or two couples travelling together. For incentives and board meetings, the ballroom, the gardens and the restaurants make a compact programme possible in one place, with shopping across the road. Wellness clients can combine the spa and the sports club with a wellness programme elsewhere in Thailand.

How to book it
Hold rooms and function space early for the November to February high season, when Bangkok's large events compete for the same hotels. Ask your Thailand DMC to request the hotel's current floor plans and room mix before you send a proposal. A Thailand DMC on the ground can also run a site inspection for you. Our Bangkok guide covers the city, our hotel booking team holds rooms, our Thailand DMC MICE team plans events, the full range is on our Thailand DMC services page, and the trade desk is on our contact page.
