The 32nd Laguna Phuket Triathlon takes place on Sunday 15 November 2026 at Laguna Phuket on the island's west coast, according to the race organisers. Its signature race is a 1.8 km swim, a 50 km bike and a 12 km run, and the organisers say last year's field drew more than 1,000 athletes from over 30 countries. This briefing, from a Thailand DMC for travel agents, sets out the race formats, what an athlete needs on the ground and how to turn race weekend into a full Phuket programme.

The race and its formats
The race was first held in 1994 and calls itself the "Race of Legends". The individual swim starts in the Andaman Sea off the resort beachfront and finishes in the freshwater lagoon behind it; the bike course runs out through the countryside and over the Naithon hills, and the run loops through Laguna Phuket to a beachside finish. Besides the individual race, the organisers list a team relay, a sprint triathlon of 0.5 km, 20 km and 6 km, and a duathlon. Early-bird entry closed on 31 May 2026; check the race's own page for current entry status, cut-off times and the race-week schedule before you quote.
What an athlete needs on the ground
A triathlete does not travel light. Each one brings a bike case, and a family or a club brings several, so the airport transfer needs a van or a vehicle with real cargo space rather than a standard car. Laguna Phuket is a short drive from Phuket International Airport, which helps. Most athletes want to arrive by the Thursday or Friday before race day to rebuild the bike, ride part of the course and get used to the heat; race-day mornings start before dawn. Hotels inside and near Laguna fill first on race weekend, so hold rooms now for clients who want to walk to the start.

How to sell it
Race weekend is three days; the trip around it can be ten. Build the week before around acclimatisation and easy training, and the days after around recovery: a spa programme, a boat day in Phang Nga Bay, or a few nights somewhere quieter. Companions who are not racing need their own programme on race morning. Ask your Thailand DMC to match the vehicle to the number of bike cases and to time the transfers around the bike check-in and the race briefing; a Thailand DMC with its own fleet can keep the same driver for the whole stay. Our Phuket destination guide covers the island, our briefing on race-weekend travel covers the wider events calendar, our transport team handles bike-case transfers, our wellness team builds recovery programmes, and every other service is on our Thailand DMC services page.
