ICONPHUKET: Siam Piwat Plans a 10-Billion-Baht Attraction Hub in Phuket for 2029

Dispatch No. 495

13 October 2026 · David Leo · Explera Trade Desk · 4 min read

Siam Piwat, the developer of Siam Paragon and ICONSIAM, plans to open ICONPHUKET in 2029, a 10-billion-baht retail and attraction hub with 12 indoor and outdoor attractions. Explera DMC's view for agents: nothing changes for 2026 or 2027 bookings, but it is a Phuket opening worth tracking for repeat clients.

A note on who is writing: Explera is a Thailand DMC serving travel agents, and its Thai entity, Explera DMC Co., Ltd., operates under TAT licence 14/05119 (a Tourism Business Licence from the Department of Tourism). Explera is also IATA TIDS-registered under 96215733 and a member of ASTA (900408341). Contact: b2b@explera.co.th.

What is planned

The Nation reported on 5 October that ICONPHUKET is Siam Piwat's first major project outside Bangkok. It sits within Synthesis Ark Phuket, a 50-billion-baht mixed-use development on about 500 rai (80 hectares) by CV Group of Companies. A third of ICONPHUKET's floor area is set aside for attractions aimed at international visitors, more than 40% of the site is planned as open green space, and the project is meant to showcase the heritage, arts and businesses of Thailand's 14 southern provinces. Groundwork is under way, with ICONPHUKET due in 2029 and the first phase of Synthesis Ark in 2032. Other reports place the site in Thalang district, on Thepkrasattri Road between Phuket International Airport and Phuket Town.

What it means for agents

For now, nothing to book and nothing to promise. Developers' dates move, and 2029 is three high seasons away. What the plan does show is the direction of Phuket's product: more indoor, all-weather experiences alongside the beaches, which matters for families and for the rainy months. The forecast of 80,000 to 100,000 visitors a day is the developer's own projection, not a measured figure, and a Thailand DMC would treat it that way.

What to sell in Phuket today

Phuket Town already offers much of what ICONPHUKET promises to showcase: our Phuket Old Town briefing covers its Sino-Portuguese streets, and our Phuket guide covers beaches, areas and hotels. Our tours team builds half-day town programmes that work as a rainy-day option. Ask your Thailand DMC to flag ICONPHUKET once a firm opening date is announced.
