The Bangkok Marathon Moves From November to 10 January 2027: What Running Groups Need to Rebook

Dispatch No. 516

18 October 2026 · David Leo · Explera Trade Desk · 4 min read

The Bangkok Marathon, listed for 8 November 2026, has been postponed to Sunday 10 January 2027, according to the AIMS race calendar, and the race keeps its night start beside the Grand Palace. Explera DMC Thailand explains what agents with running groups should rebook, and how to plan around a midnight start.

Explera handles ground arrangements as a Thailand DMC for travel agents. Its Thai company, Explera DMC Co., Ltd., holds TAT licence 14/05119, the Tourism Business Licence issued by the Department of Tourism, and the group is IATA TIDS-registered (96215733) and a member of ASTA (900408341). What has changed?

The AIMS calendar shows the November edition as postponed and rescheduled for Sunday 10 January 2027. Time Out Bangkok describes it as the 37th edition, with runners gathering on Sanam Chai Road beside the Grand Palace before a full-marathon start around midnight. Listings differ on the exact start time, so confirm it with the organiser before printing it.

What should agents rebook?

Hotels and flights built around 8 November need moving to the 9–10 January 2027 weekend, which falls in the high season, so rooms near the old town are worth holding early. Because the race runs through the night, runners need a late check-out or a day room once they finish.

Is this the only big run in Bangkok?

No. The Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok is a separate race, and our briefing on running and fitness events covers it and others. Our Bangkok guide covers the old town around the start.

How can a Thailand DMC help?

A hotel within reach of the start, a vehicle for the night-time drop-off and pick-up, and a rest day or a beach stay after the race: a Thailand DMC can put all of it together. Our hotel team handles rooms, and every other service is on our Thailand DMC services page.
