Thailand’s Grand Diwali Festival 2026: Seven Reported Events in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket, and How to Use Them for Indian Groups

Dispatch No. 556

26 October 2026 · David Leo · Explera Trade Desk · 4 min read

The Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival returns in November 2026. Indian travel media report seven events across Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket between 3 and 29 November, built around Diwali night on 8 November. Explera DMC Thailand treats every date as provisional until TAT publishes the full programme.

Explera handles ground arrangements as a Thailand DMC for travel agents. Its Thai company, Explera DMC Co., Ltd., holds TAT licence 14/05119, the Tourism Business Licence issued by the Department of Tourism, and the group is IATA TIDS-registered (96215733) and a member of ASTA (900408341). What is different about Diwali in Thailand this year?

Last year was the first edition. TAT staged the Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2025 from 16 to 31 October in Bangkok’s Phahurat district, the city’s Little India, and along Khlong Ong Ang, timed to Diwali on 20 October. In 2026 Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November, and the programme reported for this year is wider: four events in Bangkok, two in Pattaya and one in Phuket. For agents that is the real change. The festival is no longer one Bangkok neighbourhood; it now reaches Pattaya and Phuket as well.

What has been reported for the Thailand Diwali festival 2026?

The schedule published by Outlook Traveller and Esquire India, which both name TAT as the organiser, places an opening event at Central Bangrak on 3 and 4 November, a riverside event at ICONSIAM from 6 to 8 November, a Phuket event at Central Festival Patong on 8 November, Pattaya events at Central Festival Pattaya Beach from 7 to 15 November and on Beach Road from 13 to 15 November, a return to Phahurat and Khlong Ong Ang from 20 to 24 November, and a closing event at EmQuartier from 26 to 29 November. When we wrote this, TAT’s own newsroom had not posted the full programme. Treat each date as a hold, not a confirmed slot, and expect venues or days to move.

How should agents use it?

For most Indian groups the festival is an evening, not a reason to fly. It works best as a free cultural add-on for groups who are in Thailand anyway: a wedding party arriving in early November, an incentive group in Pattaya in mid-month, or leisure clients who would like to spend Diwali night somewhere new. Plan the evening with a vehicle on standby and a guide who knows the area, because Phahurat’s lanes are narrow and crowds build on the main nights. Our Thailand DMC for Indian travel agents page explains how we work with the market, and our Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket guides cover the three host cities.

What else lines up with the November dates?

Two things help the pitch. Indian passport holders are in Thailand’s 30-day visa-exemption group under the rules that took effect on 15 September 2026, and our India capacity briefing sets out what that means for groups. TAT’s ASEAN India+ Shoppers in Thailand 2026 campaign, which gives partner privileges to Indian and South Asian visitors, also runs until the end of November; our guide to the shopping campaign covers how it works.

How can a Thailand DMC help?

Ask your Thailand DMC to secure the rooms first, because early November is the start of the high season. We then fit the Diwali evenings around the group’s main programme, with vegetarian and Jain menus, transfers and guides arranged through our group travel desk and, for incentive groups, our MICE team. Every other service is on our Thailand DMC services page.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Thailand Diwali festival in 2026?

It is reported for 3 to 29 November 2026, with Diwali itself on Sunday 8 November. TAT had not posted the full programme when we wrote this, so reconfirm each date.

Where are the events?

The reported venues are Central Bangrak, ICONSIAM, Phahurat and Khlong Ong Ang, and EmQuartier in Bangkok; Central Festival Pattaya Beach and Beach Road in Pattaya; and Central Festival Patong in Phuket.

Do Indian clients need a visa?

Indian passport holders are in the 30-day visa-exemption group under the rules in force since 15 September 2026. Check the rules again before final payment, and plan any longer stay through a visa.

Is it worth building a trip around?

For most groups it works better as an evening inside a wider programme, because the dates are still provisional. Fix the main itinerary first, then add the Diwali evenings that fall within it.
