Thailand's Q4 2026 International Flights Are Up 5.8%: Which Markets Are Adding Seats and Which Are Not

Dispatch No. 502

14 October 2026 · David Leo · Explera Trade Desk · 4 min read

Scheduled international flights to Thailand are up 5.8% year on year in the fourth quarter of 2026, against 2.5% worldwide, according to Kasikorn Research Center as reported by The Nation. Europe and China lead the growth, while India, Russia and South Korea fall. Explera DMC Thailand explains what that means for agents.

Explera handles ground arrangements as a Thailand DMC for travel agents. Its Thai company, Explera DMC Co., Ltd., holds TAT licence 14/05119, the Tourism Business Licence issued by the Department of Tourism, and the group is IATA TIDS-registered (96215733) and a member of ASTA (900408341). What do the figures show?

The report, published on 13 October 2026, says flights from China, Malaysia and Europe continue to increase, with Europe up 28.6% and China up 21.6%. Flights from India are down 4.6%, from Russia 22.5% and from South Korea 20.5%. It also says Thailand's growth trails Vietnam, Malaysia and China, which points to stronger competition for international travellers. These are counts of scheduled flights, not of passengers or bookings.

Where do the flights land?

International flights remain concentrated in Bangkok and Phuket, so the extra capacity does not spread evenly across the country. For clients from Europe or China, that means more choice into Bangkok and Phuket, with secondary destinations still reached by a domestic connection or a road transfer. Our transport team plans those onward legs.

What should agents watch?

The report names three risks: geopolitical tensions, flooding in some areas and high jet fuel costs, any of which could lead airlines to slow additions or cut routes. In the shrinking markets, check flight options before you promise dates; our briefings on Russia and South Korea cover how those clients travel. In the growing ones, a Thailand DMC can hold hotel and touring space early while flight options are still wide. Every other service is on our Thailand DMC services page.
