Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X are restoring suspended international routes and adding frequencies for the October–December high season, with direct flights on up to 53 routes to 46 cities across East, Southeast, South and Central Asia. Most of it runs from Don Mueang, not Suvarnabhumi, and several routes restart on dated days in late October and November rather than on 1 October. For an agent selling Thailand into those markets, that means two things to check on every file: which Bangkok airport the client lands at, and whether the flight they are quoting is actually operating on their travel date. What was announced
The two carriers — Thai AirAsia (FD) and its long-haul affiliate Thai AirAsia X (XJ) — describe the programme as a restoration. During the third quarter they reduced frequencies and temporarily suspended some routes, citing travel demand and rising fuel prices, and earlier in the year Thai AirAsia had cut its seat capacity by around 30% on average for May and June for the same two reasons. The fourth quarter reverses that ahead of the peak.
By region, the network they describe is 17 cities in East Asia (China, Japan, Taiwan and Macau), 15 in Southeast Asia (including Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia and Laos), 13 in South Asia (India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives) and one in Central Asia, in Kazakhstan. The figures are ceilings: the announcement speaks of "up to" 53 routes and "up to" a given number of weekly flights, and a ceiling is not a timetable.
Japan: four cities from Don Mueang
The largest single block is Thai AirAsia X's Japan network, all of it direct from Don Mueang. As announced: Tokyo with up to 21 flights a week and Osaka with up to 14; Sapporo from 1 October with up to four a week, rising to seven from 1 December; and Nagoya from 2 October with four a week. Combined, the carrier puts its Japan frequencies at up to 46 a week once the December Sapporo increase takes effect.
For inbound Japanese groups the useful detail is Sapporo and Nagoya rather than Tokyo. Both give a regional Japanese agency a nonstop into Bangkok without a domestic connection at home, and the Sapporo step-up lands in December, ahead of the Japanese year-end holiday period. India, Kuala Lumpur, Siem Reap and Almaty
Thai AirAsia is resuming six temporarily suspended routes to India, and the dates are staggered. As reported, they include Don Mueang–Gaya from 25 October, Don Mueang–Ahmedabad from 6 November, and Don Mueang to Guwahati, Hyderabad and Lucknow from 16 November. Delhi is listed at four flights a week, but the reporting does not make clear whether it is the sixth resumed route. Gaya matters more than its size suggests — it is the gateway for Bodh Gaya, and Buddhist pilgrimage groups travelling between India and Thailand are a recurring piece of trade business.
Outside India, Don Mueang–Kuala Lumpur and the Phuket–Siem Reap service both return on 25 October, and Almaty in Kazakhstan is listed at four flights a week. The Siem Reap link is the one to note for twin-centre files: it lets a client finish Angkor and fly straight to the Andaman coast without routing back through Bangkok. What to reconfirm before you quote
The airport. Most of these are Don Mueang flights, including the whole Japan network; the Siem Reap service leaves from Phuket. Thai AirAsia has also moved part of its domestic flying back to Suvarnabhumi from 1 October — Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi — which we covered in our note on Bangkok's autumn carrier changes. So a client can arrive at one Bangkok airport and leave from the other, and the transfer between them is a road journey that has to be timed, not assumed. Put the airport on the itinerary in words.
The operating date. A route that restarts on 16 November does not operate on 10 November, and an announcement published in September is not a seat you can hold. Quote against the schedule as it appears in live inventory for the client's date, not against the headline network.
The frequency. "Up to four a week" means some weeks may carry fewer. For a group, that is the difference between a daily fallback and a three-day wait if a flight is cancelled, so build the contingency around the real days of operation.

Do these flights use Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi?
Most of the restored international routes described in the announcement operate from Don Mueang, and the Japan network is explicitly direct from Don Mueang; the Siem Reap service runs from Phuket. Thai AirAsia's return to Suvarnabhumi from 1 October covers domestic flying to Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi. Check the airport on each ticket, because a single itinerary can involve both.
When do the India routes restart?

It is a ceiling, not a guarantee of a daily pattern on every day of the season. Frequencies can vary week to week, so for groups and time-critical connections build the plan around the days the flight actually operates on the client's dates.
