How do you get a travel-industry internship in Thailand?

The direct route is to intern with a licensed destination management company — the operator that actually runs trips on the ground. Explera is a Bangkok-based, TAT-licensed Thailand DMC (IATA 96215733) serving 340+ travel agencies in 108+ countries, and we run six internship tracks year-round, each available remote (worldwide) or in-house at our Bangkok head office. Internships last 3–6 months, come with a named mentor and a completion certificate, and applications are accepted by email only at hr@explera.co.th. Every track’s full specification — responsibilities, requirements, duration, mode and how to apply — is published below.

Applications: email only. hr@explera.co.th — we do not accept applications through forms, social media or third-party job portals, and we never charge any application or placement fee. Facts on this page are current as of July 2026.

Careers at Explera DMC Thailand — figures current as of July 2026. Intakes open year-round.

Opportunity types

Remote or in-house — the same real work.

Every travel-industry internship track below is available in either mode unless its specification says otherwise — in both, the work sits on live files from our Thailand DMC services for travel agents. State your preferred mode in your application subject line.

Interns and mentors working together at the Explera DMC office in Bangkok
In-house or remote, every travel-industry internship runs on real trade files with a named mentor.

Remote internship — worldwide

Work from anywhere on real deliverables — agent enquiries, quotes, content, market research, campaign work — with daily online stand-ups and a named mentor in Bangkok.

Technical requirements

  • Own laptop (any modern OS), stable internet ≥10 Mbps, webcam and headset for video calls.
  • Minimum 4 hours daily overlap with Bangkok time (ICT, UTC+7), agreed at offer stage.
  • Comfortable with email, spreadsheets, shared docs and video conferencing; we provide the rest of the toolset.
  • Open worldwide; university credit supported with your institution’s paperwork.

In-house internship — Bangkok HQ

Sit with reservations, sales and the 24/7 operations desk at our Bangrak head office, join supplier visits and site inspections, and see how a destination management company actually runs.

Technical requirements

  • Location: 110 MKY Building, Room 4A, 4th Floor, Mahaesak Road, Suriyawongse, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500.
  • Office hours Monday–Friday, agreed schedule of 20–40 hours per week per your study load.
  • Non-Thai candidates arrange their own visa or study-permission for Thailand; we advise on and support the paperwork.
  • Desk, equipment and systems access provided on site.
General eligibility

Requirements that apply to every track.

Track-specific requirements are listed with each role below. These baseline requirements apply to all applicants, remote and in-house.

Age & education

18 or older. Current students, recent graduates and career-switchers are all eligible — tourism, hospitality, business, marketing, languages and finance backgrounds fit naturally, but motivation beats major.

English level

Working English (approximately B2 or better) — it’s the trade’s common language. Additional languages are a strong advantage and are the core requirement of the multilingual track.

Availability

A continuous window of at least 3 months at 20–40 hours per week. State your exact availability window and weekly hours in your application.

Professional conduct

You’ll handle real client and partner data under Thailand’s PDPA — interns sign a standard confidentiality agreement and follow our data-handling rules.

Open internship tracks — full specifications

Six roles, fully specified.

Each specification lists what you’ll actually do and what we require. All tracks: 3–6 months, remote or in-house Bangkok, year-round intakes, stipend and terms confirmed in writing per role before you start. Apply with the track name in your subject line.

What you get

Why intern at a DMC and not a desk job.

Travel-industry careers are built on ground knowledge — how a transfer actually runs, why an allotment matters, what an agent needs to close a booking. Interning inside a live Thailand DMC gives you that faster than any classroom.

  • A named mentor and structured onboarding — you are never left to guess.
  • Real responsibility on live work — not coffee runs and filing.
  • A completion certificate and reference letter, plus university-credit paperwork where needed.
  • A path to full-time roles — strong interns are first in line when positions open.
  • Stipend and terms discussed individually per role, mode and duration — confirmed in writing before you start.

Careers FAQ

Questions applicants ask.

How do I apply for an internship at Explera?

By email only, to hr@explera.co.th — with your CV, a short cover note, your chosen track and whether you want remote or in-house Bangkok. We do not accept applications via forms, social media or portals.

Can I intern remotely from outside Thailand?

Yes. Remote internships are open worldwide — you need a laptop, internet of at least 10 Mbps, a webcam, and at least 4 hours of daily overlap with Bangkok time (UTC+7). Remote interns get the same mentor, real deliverables and completion certificate as in-house interns.

What are the minimum requirements to apply?

Age 18+, working English (about B2), and a continuous availability window of at least 3 months at 20–40 hours per week. Each track adds its own requirements, listed in its specification above — for example a portfolio for the content track, or native-level language skills for market support.

Are internships paid?

Stipend and terms are set per role, mode and duration, and are confirmed in writing before you start — ask in your application and we’ll state the terms for your track. Explera never charges any application or placement fee.

Do I need a visa for the in-house internship in Bangkok?

Non-Thai candidates arrange their own visa or study-permission for Thailand; we advise on the paperwork and provide the supporting internship documents your institution or embassy requires. If a visa is a hurdle, the remote mode gives you the same tracks from anywhere.

How long is an internship, and when can I start?

Typically 3–6 months, with year-round intakes — tell us your availability window in your application and we’ll match you to the next start date for your track. University-credit internships are supported with your institution’s paperwork.

Can an internship lead to a full-time job?

Yes — strong interns are first in line when full-time positions open across operations, sales, marketing and market desks. Every intern also leaves with a completion certificate and a reference letter.

How fast will I hear back after applying?

We acknowledge every application within 3 business days. Shortlisted candidates are invited to a video interview with the track lead, and successful candidates receive a written offer stating dates, mode, hours and terms.
